Google Ads Reveals a Refreshed User Interface

In an effort to improve user experience, Google Ads has introduced an updated user interface (UI) to a selected number of accounts as per source from Digital Sunbird. Though this revamp includes changes to the layout, structure, and design, the functionality of tools and features remains intact. The new updates are currently in beta for Manager Accounts.

The Rationale Behind the Change

The main goal of the present UI changes is to enhance workflow management and upgrade accessibility. All these improvements have been implemented without sacrificing the availability of existing tools. This strategic decision is primarily driven by the goal to streamline the experience of the platform users.

Location of Reports

If you cannot locate your reports as soon as you login to Google Ads, fret not! These reports are now situated in the ‘Insights and reports’ section, thus centralizing all of your performance reports.

Initial Discoveries of the Update

The introduction of Google Ads‘ UI was initially discovered by digital advertising team leader, Greg Kohler. The new design was publically shared and previewed.

When approached for a comment on the new interface, Kohler professed his initial difficulty in navigating the changes:

  • “‘Everything moved around and finding things became quite bewildering. For instance, I would typically look under Keywords to locate search terms,’ said Kohler.
  • “But despite the early struggles, Kohler believes it to be a temporary setback, he says ‘I’m sure I’ll get accustomed to it eventually but for now it’s a bit of a hurdle.'”
Contextualizing the Timing of Launch

This renovation is a progression of the same UI modification that was initiated in the month of June. As per Google, the company has continued to refine the layout to make the platform more user-friendly and intuitive. Google’s efforts are indicative of its commitment to the ease of its users.

Google’s Statement

A representative from Google has shared the aim of this initiative:

  • He stated, “User research has shown that advertisers prefer using the Insights page, as well as various other pages when trying to comprehend campaign performance.”
  • Further expressing Google’s motive, he said, “By consolidating these pages into a unified section in the navigation, we intend to simplify the process of obtaining the performance data required to optimize your ads.”
